Center for Plasticulture at the Horticulture Research Farm (Gate H)

from the University Park campus (approx. 9 miles)

Penn State University is bordered by, and is immediately North of, state highway 26, which separates the university from the town of State College. This is also called College Avenue, and at this point, it is a one way roadway heading the direction you want to go. Get on 26 South (College Avenue). Proceed for about 5 miles to the town of Pine Grove Mills, which will have a blinker light where 26 South makes a sharp turn left to go over a mountain. At this blinker light, proceed straight (West) on state highway 45 West. Proceed 3.8 miles to the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center gate H on the left. (A safety note, watch in your rear view mirror for passing vehicles before turning left at gate H.) Proceed to the buildings, then turn left toward the high tunnels.

from Boalsburg (approx. 10 miles) and points South, including Harrisburg (90+ miles)

On state highway 322 West as you approach Boalsburg, watch for a split in the highway. Take the right branch to 322 West Business. Proceed for about a mile, and turn left onto state highway 45West just after passing the military museum. Proceed for about 6 miles to the intersection of state highway 26 South. Go left, staying on 45 West. (Careful at this intersection -- it's very dangerous.) Proceed about one mile to the town of Pine Grove Mills, which will have a blinker light where 26 South makes a sharp turn left to go over a mountain. At this blinker light, continue straight (West) on state highway 45 West for 3.8 miles to the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center gate H on the left. (A safety note, watch in your rear view mirror for passing vehicles before turning left at gate H.) Proceed to the buildings, then turn left toward the high tunnels.

from Pittsburgh (125+ miles) and points West

Take State route 22 East to Water Street. At the traffic light at the bottom of the big downhill grade, turn left onto State highway 350 West / 45 East. Proceed for about one mile, then turn right onto 45 West. Proceed for about 17 miles until you see the Ag Progress Days site on your right, then proceed ½ mile farther to gate H on your right. Turn right and proceed to the buildings, then turn left toward the high tunnels.

from New Jersey (220 + miles; 4 - 4.5 hours) and points East

Take I-80 West to the Bellefonte Exit 161. Take 26 / 220 South for about 8 miles. Near the Penn State University exit, take State College / Lewistown exit 73 (322 East). Go about 3 miles on 322 East and take the Boalsburg / Oak Hall exit (45 West). From the exit, go right and proceed about 1/2 mile to the traffic light. At the traffic light, go straight on highway 45 West for about 6 miles until you intersect highway 26 South. Go left, now 26 South & 45 West. (Careful at this intersection -- it's very dangerous.)
